 The class is taught in a modern classroom environment.

Class begins at 8:00 AM ends at 6:00PM.  

All money for drinks and snacks, note pads, and The North Carolina Concealed Handgun Training booklet is donated to Downeast Wildlife Rehabilitation Center  .in Grifton,N.C.

Pre-registration is REQUIRED.  The registration fee is $25.00. This can be paid by money order, cashiers check or personal check (Please make check payable to James Satterthwaite, P.O. Box 1684, Greenville, NC 27835). Sorry, no credit/debit cards accepted.  Include a contact number and the date of the class you wish to attend.  If you want a special Sunday class and are willing to be on the waiting list, or you have an entire group,  please indicate this as well. This registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. When your registration is received, you will get a confirmation call. $75.00 is due on the day of class.  If paid by personal check, your certificate will be mailed within 10 business days to the address on your registration form.  If the class fee is paid by certified check, money order or cash, you will received your certificate at the conclusion of class. You can bring your own gun and ammunition, but if you wish to rent one we have many calibers and models to choose from, .22cal, .22 mag.,38cal.,9mm, 45cal..The cost of renting is $15.00. Ammunition is sold at our cost.

Greenville Concealed Carry recommends that you practice with your hand gun on a regular basis to improve your skill and accuracy.

FIREARMS AND RANGE
Some instructors do not want any firearms in the classroom because of safety issues, but it is difficult going over the fundamentals of marksmanship without the student holding a gun. 
In this class you will need to bring your gun into the classroom UNLOADED, along with 30 rounds of ammunition.  If you don't have ammunition, we will sell it at cost. 
Before class, ALL handguns will be check by the instructor for safety reasons. All ammunition, at the beginning of class will be bagged and tagged and taken up, to be given back out at the range.

NO STUDENT WILL HAVE LIVE AMMUNITION, IN THE BUILDING.

Qualification Course of Fire

Target: Police B27 Silhouette
Safety glasses and hearing protection supplied.

YOU will shoot:

10 rounds  at 3 yards
10 rounds  at 5 yards
10 rounds  at 7 yards

No time limit restrictions.
Listen and follow range officers commands.
State law requires a student to score 80%

If a student fails to qualify, he or she is allowed ONE reshoot at the next scheduled class date.

The only public pistol range in Pitt county is located at the Paradise Hunting Preserve, owned and operated by Randy Adams. It is located off Hwy 43 South of Greenville, on Bill Adams Rd. (Left just before you get to intersection of NC Hwy 102.)

The cost is $15 per person per visit.

After receiving your certificate you can apply to the sheriffs office in the county you reside.  The Sheriffs office charges $90 for a criminal background check and mental health check.  If you are approved, your permit will be issued in 4 to 6 weeks.  The permit is a little larger than a drivers license with no picture.  It is valid for 5 years. As of January 1,2010, the sheriff\'s office is required to send you a renewal notice. The notice will be mailed to the address listed on your permit, so if you move contact the Sheriff's Office with your new address You must appear at the county sheriff's office and pay $85 renewal fee.
30 other states have reciprocal agreements with North Carolina to honor North Carolina Concealed Carry permits.

Under North Carolina Law, the holder of a valid North Carolina Concealed Carry permit can use this permit to purchase hand guns in the state of North Carolina.  Obtaining a purchase permit is no longer required.

 

 

 

NRA First Steps pistol course
Course outline


Basic beginners pistol course designed for the new shooter that wants to develop the knowledge and basic shooting skills as well as the most important aspect of firearms training which is safety.

  • The class is 4 to 5 hours in length. Starts at 8:00 AM on Saturdays. (Register or call for class dates)

  • We furnish the gun at no cost, a .22 caliber, Walther Mod. P22, that is easy and fun to shoot.The ammunition $10.00, we use is .22 caliber, CCI Stinger.  You can bring your own gun and 50 rounds. 

  • Registration fee of $10.00 covers materials - NRA book "The basics of Pistol Shooting". This 118 page book published by The National Rifle Association, Pamphlet on "Gun Safety Rules", hearing protection and silhouette target.

  • Course costs $50.00 which is payable on the class date.

  • An NRA certificate is awarded to each student for the successful completion of the course.

  • Class size is limited to 12 people.
